"Hey G, I'm going with Strike to St. Louis for a tourney."
"Sure. I'll drive. Who's coming with?"
And that was that; early afternoon a week later (another all night drive behind us) we rolled into a posh borough of St. Louis, thinking we might be lost. (We were). A few streets over in an equally swell suburb we arrived at Lynn's house. Shortly thereafter we were lowering property values with some cross country beverage enhanced disc golf through the neighborhood. I'm sure Lynn's neighbors will be happy to not see Manitoba plates in the drive for a while.

Soaker is a small and new tourney; but done well. The fields were in nice shape. They had a fruit juice sponsor that provided all varieties of interesting drinks to fuel with through out the day. (The carrot juice tasted like ass.) A field-side dinner right after play was accompanied by some local brews and ciders; a good game of Cower broke out (a word of warning: basket catches should not be done directly in front of your crotch). The two biggest irritants were shade, or lack thereof; and the heat, somewhere around 36 degrees Celsius. More notables: I got to play with the Iowa squad; the Tequila poppers; Lynn hosting the party; and Campbell getting a job at Krispy Kreme.

As for photos, the heat really slowed down play, and the humidity created a blue haze so shooting was annoying. That's a pair of new excuses…
