I showed up in Toronto as the Leafs were battling Ottawa in an Ontario series and Carter was leading the Raptors up the court into the playoffs. The town was wild, and to add to this extraordinary sporting atmosphere the annual TUT was on, with sixty teams set to fight it out in Open, Womens and Co-ed divisions. I picked up with a co-ed team on Saturday, and had a chance to play against old rivals K-LO (formerly members of Kingston Mothership), and new rivals 'Mo from TO.  Can't wait to meet them at Can Nats in Edmonton with my crew. I found out too late Saturday that Floppy Body Saunder's had a squad short of players playing Open. Maybe next time.

TUT '01

Clear skies, cooler temps and strong wind arrived Sunday.  After driving around TO all morning trying to buy pro film I hit the fields after noon and caught some games, mostly Men's.  The tourney is spread over 8 different locales so without wheels I was relegated to the finals fields.  The wind was a big factor; punt and D strategy was in effect, and opportunities for sensational plays (read amazing photos) were sparse.  Nevertheless, here's coverage of the gig.

In an unrelated note, in case anyone cares, I'm not a fan of cities.  They're good for parties and shows, that's about it.  Upon arrival in the "center" of Canada, the temperature hit 30 degrees C (that's 90 F, warm for us Canucks) and the first smog warning of the year was announced.  To add to my bliss, some bastard stole my briefcase from the park while I was throwing disc with some little kids.  Nothing but heaven.
